In a scientifically valuable research study, a capable researcher from the Scientific Research Center, Dr. Rahel Osman — Head of the Research Support Center — in collaboration with Dr. Abdulqadir Ahmad, a lecturer in the Department of Petroleum Geoscience at the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Yaseen Taha, have published important research in the international journal Geomatics (International Journal of Geomatics).

This study sheds light on changes in land use and land cover — a key environmental issue with significant implications for human well-being, climate, and ecosystems. The main objective of the research is to identify new approaches to predicting and reducing the negative impacts of climate change in the studied area. Additionally, the study forecasts future changes, a critical field of research with broad effects on environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation, and the development of socio-economic stability.

Notably, the research was conducted on the Soran, Choman, and Rawanduz districts.
