In the Geo-Workshop lab, thin sections and rock powders are prepared for various analytical techniques, including optical microscopy, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and Rock-Eval pyrolysis, among other geological analyses

A laboratory jaw crusher is used for crushing rock samples into smaller, manageable sizes for analysis.
Pulverizer
A laboratory pulverizer is used to grind rock samples into fine powders for detailed analysis.
Cutter Machine
A cutter machine is used to slice rock samples into specific sizes and shapes, typically for preparation of thin sections or other detailed analyses.
Petrographic Automatic Thin Sectioning Machine
A Petrographic Automatic Thin Sectioning Machine (Microtrim) is used to precisely trim and thin rock samples to create high-quality thin sections for petrographic analysis.
Metallographic
The Metallographic sample preparation equipment is used for preparing metallographic samples, including cutting, mounting, grinding, and polishing, to examine the microstructure of metals under a microscope.

A cut-off machine is used to precisely section metal or rock samples for further analysis, ensuring clean and accurate cuts.
Diamond Core Rig
A diamond core rig is used for drilling rock samples to extract cylindrical cores, which are then analyzed for geological, mineralogical, and petrophysical properties.
Rotary Evaporator
An Automatic Pneumatic Mounting Press is used to securely mount geological or metallographic samples in resin for easier handling and preparation, ensuring uniform pressure and consistent results during the mounting process.

Operator of laboratory,Master’s degree in Geology and Geochemistry, with a specialization in Economic Geology, particularly focusing on hydrothermal mineral deposits.
Masoud Shekha Hamad
Co-Operator of laboratory, I prepare, process, and analyze geological samples using tools like rock cutters, grinders, and crushers.
