Geo-Workshop Laboratory

About Laboratory

In the Geo-Workshop lab, thin sections and rock powders are prepared for various analytical techniques, including optical microscopy, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and Rock-Eval pyrolysis, among other geological analyses

Our Mission

To advance geological understanding by providing state-of-the-art tools, training, and resources for the analysis of earth materials. We aim to foster innovative research, support academic and industry collaborations, and enhance the educational experience of students in the field of geoscience.

Our Vision

To be a leading center for geological research and education, inspiring groundbreaking discoveries and contributing to the sustainable management of Earth's resources.

Jaw Crusher

Jaw Crusher

A laboratory jaw crusher is used for crushing rock samples into smaller, manageable sizes for analysis.

Pulverizer

Pulverizer

A laboratory pulverizer is used to grind rock samples into fine powders for detailed analysis.

cutter machine

Cutter Machine

A cutter machine is used to slice rock samples into specific sizes and shapes, typically for preparation of thin sections or other detailed analyses.

Petrographic Automatic Thin Sectioning Machine

Petrographic Automatic Thin Sectioning Machine

A Petrographic Automatic Thin Sectioning Machine (Microtrim) is used to precisely trim and thin rock samples to create high-quality thin sections for petrographic analysis.

Metallographic

Metallographic

The Metallographic sample preparation equipment is used for preparing metallographic samples, including cutting, mounting, grinding, and polishing, to examine the microstructure of metals under a microscope.

cut-off machine

cut-off machine

A cut-off machine is used to precisely section metal or rock samples for further analysis, ensuring clean and accurate cuts.

Diamond Core Rig

Diamond Core Rig

A diamond core rig is used for drilling rock samples to extract cylindrical cores, which are then analyzed for geological, mineralogical, and petrophysical properties.

Automatic Pneumatic Mounting Press

Rotary Evaporator

An Automatic Pneumatic Mounting Press is used to securely mount geological or metallographic samples in resin for easier handling and preparation, ensuring uniform pressure and consistent results during the mounting process.
