Soran University and Barzani Charity Foundation Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Soran University and the Barzani Charity Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to initiate joint collaboration, while also announcing the launch of the first project to establish a regional climate and weather data archive for the Kurdistan Region.

Professor Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, and Mr. Musa Ahmad, President of the Barzani Charity Foundation, emphasized the importance of coordination and joint efforts, aiming to establish a foundation for scientific research.

The climate and weather data project for the Kurdistan Region will be supervised by Professor Dr. Kamal Kolo, Head of the Climate Change and Sustainability Research Center at the Faculty of Scientific Research at Soran University. A team of researchers from both Soran University and the research division of the Barzani Charity Foundation will participate in this project.

It is worth mentioning that at the end of the meeting, the delegation from the Barzani Charity Foundation visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Scientific Research at Soran University, where they were briefed on the scientific developments and progress at the university.
