A Scientific Research Study Published by Researchers at the Scientific Research Center of Soran University on a Novel ZnO Nanotechnology Approach for Biological Applications

At the Faculty of the Scientific Research Center, Soran University, a remarkable study titled “Synthesis, Characterisation, and Investigation of Catalytic and Antimicrobial Activities of Zinc Oxide/Palladium-Silver Nanocomposites” has been published. The research was conducted by Dr. Bushra Hussein Shenawa, Dr. Hussein Khwajasta, MSc. Renjbar Meksi Mohammed Sharif, and MSc. Parwin Jalal Jalil, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed from Ulster University, UK. This study has been published in the high-impact international journal BioNanoScience, which is part of Springer Nature, with an impact factor of 3.2.

In this research, the team developed a novel synthesis method for ZnO nanocomposites using a deposition approach, followed by coating ZnO nanostructures with silver and palladium nanoparticles. These nanocomposites demonstrated significant antibacterial and antifungal properties, while also being tested on human blood samples, where they showed minimal toxicity levels. Additionally, the nanocomposites exhibited a crucial role in water purification, effectively removing organic dyes through catalytic chemical interactions.
